New Forest District Council are asking residents to be patient if they have glass recycling they wish to take to the Fordingbridge A338 slip road car park as it is closed until Thursday (4 March) while it is used as a mobile temporary coronavirus testing site.

The request comes following  reports from NHS staff on site that they have been verbally abused by some people attempting to use the recycling banks.

David Hurd, car park manager at NFDC said, “The whole site is closed in order to allow the safe operation of a testing site. We understand the temporary inconvenience but ask that residents use another site, or their kerbside home collection black box for glass recycling, if they cannot wait until Thursday.

“This mobile testing site, which is operational for a few days in the month,  is particularly important so our residents in more rural areas, who may not have ready access to public transport, are able to quickly and safely access testing without the need to travel great distances.”

Alternative parking is available at Fordingbridge Town Centre Car Park.

The car park will also be closed and used as a testing site on 16, 17, and 18 March
