New Forest District Council’s 2015 parking clocks are now available to purchase online at newforest.gov.uk/parkingclock.
The price of parking clocks and meter charges will remain unchanged for the fourth year in a row. The low charges offer excellent value for money to regular users of the council’s car parks, particularly when compared to other local authorities.
Councillor Paul Vickers, New Forest District Council’s portfolio holder for planning and transportation, said: “Affordable car parking charges benefit residents, businesses and tourism, so I am pleased that we have been able to keep parking charges for 2015 at the same level for another year.
“We are the only council locally to offer parking clocks, which provide very good value for money and are more cost effective than pay and display if you regularly use the council’s car parks.”
Annual short stay clocks (1 January – 31 December) are available for £20. These can be used in any town and village car park. Motorists can park for up to three hours on as many occasions as they like throughout the district, for less than 40p per week.
A long stay clock can be purchased for an annual fee of £100 or on a fixed quarterly basis for £25. Long stay clocks can be used in any of the council’s town or village car parks including amenity (coastal) car parks. The clock allows parking in a short stay bay for up to three hours and parking in a long stay bay for more than three hours (up to the individual car park’s maximum stay). This provides all day parking at a rate of less than £2 per week.
